Neymar short bio

Neymar was born to Neymar Santos Sr. and Nadine Gonçalves and raised in the São Paulo region; his father is a former footballer who later acted as his advisor. He grew up playing futsal and street football, which shaped his technical style.

Club career & rise to prominence

Neymar came through the Santos FC academy and made his professional debut with Santos in 2009, helping the club to the 2011 Copa Libertadores and establishing himself as one of Brazil’s brightest young talents.

He moved to FC Barcelona in 2013 (forming a famed attacking trio with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez) and won the UEFA Champions League in 2015. In 2017 he transferred to Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record deal and later had a spell in Saudi Arabia before announcing a return to Santos in 2025. International career & achievements

Neymar has been a central figure for the Brazil national team across multiple tournaments: Copa América, FIFA World Cup campaigns, and the Olympics. He won Olympic gold with Brazil at Rio 2016 and has been among Brazil’s leading scorers for over a decade.

In recent years he surpassed long-standing national records to become Brazil’s all-time top scorer, a milestone widely reported in major outlets.
