Kieran Culkin short bio

Kieran is the fourth of seven children born to Christopher “Kit” Culkin (a former stage actor) and Patricia Brentrup. He grew up in a large, creative family that included several siblings who also worked as child actors — most notably his brother Macaulay Culkin.

Early career

He began performing as a child in off-Broadway theatre and made his feature-film debut in Home Alone (1990) alongside his brother. His breakthrough as a young adult came with the acclaimed comedy-drama Igby Goes Down (2002), which earned him strong notices and a Golden Globe nomination.

Acting career & prominence

As an adult Culkin has built a reputation for playing sharp, often off-kilter characters across film, television and stage. He achieved widespread mainstream recognition for his portrayal of Roman Roy on HBO’s drama Succession, a role that made him a central figure in a widely praised ensemble.

Awards & recognition

For his work Culkin has received major industry awards and nominations, including Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe recognition for Succession, alongside multiple critics’ prizes and ensemble honours.
